Medical done: Leeds close in on signing as five-year deal agreed – Journalist
Leeds United are finally closing in on the signing of Rennes winger Raphinha.
There was some nervousness among fans on Monday, as there appeared to a hold-up in the deal being announced.
Certain outlets claimed the Brazilian needed a work permit, but he actually holds an Italian passport – meaning he needs no permit.
The Mirror journalist David Anderson has reported on his personal Twitter account that the deal is all-but-done.
Anderson claimed that the medical had been complete and Raphinha is set to sign a five-year deal at Elland Road on deadline day.
This would be the perfect end to the transfer window, with Marcelo Bielsa set to add another attacking option into his squad.
There was a video circulating on Twitter on Monday evening of Raphinha arriving at Elland Road, putting an end to all of the fear that it could collapse.
It has been quite the weekend for the 23-year-old, who played for Rennes in a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon.
The winger scored and also claimed an assist as he delivered a masterclass performance in his final game for the French club.
This deal has also put an end to Leeds’ hunt for Daniel James, who hasn’t exactly impressed at Old Trafford since his move to the Whites collapsed two years ago.
Beren Cross claimed this will be the only deal completed at Elland Road, meaning we could all “go to bed early”.
