Max Wober mystery spotted ahead of Blackburn v Leeds United

Graham Smyth spotted a rare incident involving Max Wober and James Debayo as Leeds United lost 1-0 to Blackburn on Saturday.

The two centre-backs started the game at Ewood Park on 30 November on the bench, but the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist saw the pair called up to do a part of the startling lineup’s warm-up routine by fitness coach Chris Domogalla just minutes before kick-off.

Writing on X, Smyth added that he had never seen any Whites substitute having to do that before, thus raising question marks over the incident.

Fans were quick to speculate about the fitness of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk after seeing the two other centre-backs in the squad joining the starting XI’s warm-up routine.

However, Smyth eased such concerns by confirming that Rodon and Struijk also took part in the last part of the session. The pair also went on to start the game.

While it remains a mystery why Domogalla did that, the Whites staff might have had concerns over one of Rodon and Struijk ahead of kick-off.

The defensive duo, though, went on to play the full 90 minutes, albeit in a losing cause, while Debayo and Wober remained unused substitutes.

Nevertheless, all four of them would be disappointed to see Leeds miss out on the opportunity to reclaim their place at the top of the table.

The defeat has seen them fall three points behind Sheffield United, who defeated promotion rivals Sunderland 1-0 with 10 men at Bramall Lane on Friday [29 November].
