Matt Holland: Leeds United goalkeeper Meslier was ‘frustrated’

Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier appeared to look frustrated in the 2-1 win over Norwich on Sunday.

The Whites managed to win their first game on the road this season and were by far the better team.

However, they suffered a scare when Norwich equalised and that was courtesy of Meslier handing them a corner when he should’ve just cleared the ball to safety.

Discussing this incident on Premier League’s world feed, talkSPORT pundit Holland, said, “He knows it that he’s given a cheap corner. Clearly appears to be frustrated with himself.”

Nervy

Meslier’s been such a calm and composed figure for the Whites so it was kind of out of character to see him flustered with a high press.

It was far from his best performance in goal for Leeds, but Marcelo Bielsa has shown tremendous faith in him and will continue doing so.

The Frenchman, at a very early age, has proven why he’s ready to become the undisputed number one in the Premier League.

He does everything the manager asks from him in the build-up and is also an exceptional shot stopper.

These rare lapses of concentration are normal for every professional player and Meslier will only learn from it and get better in the future.

However, he must be cautioned that they will not be playing Norwich every week and some of the better teams can absolutely punish him.
