Mateusz Klich reacts to 'terrible' incident amid Leeds United controversy v QPR

Mateusz Klich has reacted to a controversial incident that took place in the Leeds United game against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday (4 October).

The Rs’ keeper Asmir Begovic was sent off for a foul on Patrick Bamford in injury time as the Whites secured a 1-0 victory courtesy of a Crysencio Summerville goal in the first half.

But video footage has emerged on Twitter showing that the 36-year-old Bosnian didn’t touch the Leeds forward, with former Elland Road star Klich cheekily responding to the incident by saying “terrible tackle, hopefully Pat is ok”.

Not a red

It clearly wasn’t a red card for Begovic because he made no contact with Bamford as the forward went through on goal against QPR.

The keeper did come out in quite a rash manner and his foot was high, but the Leeds man went down as he looked to get out of the way of the challenge.

It wasn’t a dive from Bamford, though, as he got up straight away and wasn’t looked for the referee to send the Bosnian off.

The official perhaps thought there was more contact initially or he deemed the challenge to have been dangerous enough from Begovic to hand him a red.

It’s likely the decision will be overturned on review if the West Londoners do decide to appeal it because you can’t send someone off when no contact is actually made with an opposition player.

In other Leeds United news, a defender has been ruled out until after the international break.
