Mateusz Bogusz arrives in USA in last 24 hours to complete permanent Leeds United exit
Mateusz Bogusz is set to complete his permanent Leeds United exit and sign for Los Angeles FC, according to American journalist, Josh Gross.
The 21-year-old’s loan move with UD Ibiza was cut short in order for the Polish midfielder to make a permanent switch to the MLS side.
Gross, who works for Inside SoCal Sports, has since revealed (via Twitter, 30 March) Bogusz is now in Los Angeles to finalise his move.
“New signing Mateusz Bogusz, who arrived in L.A. today, is not a U22 signing,” wrote Gross.
Good move
This feels like a move which makes sense for everyone concerned. The 21-year-old was enduring a tough time for Ibiza, who were languishing near the bottom of the Segunda Division. Bogusz was never going to make an impact at Elland Road, so for him to depart seems like a sensible option.
He’s young and could still develop, however, sometimes, it’s important to cut your losses on younger players. Leeds’ impressive pool of talent should be admired, but that has to be an acceptance that there will be prospects who don’t quite reach the level required.

Signing young talent is a low-risk strategy and the club is already reaping the benefits. Sonny Perkins, Willy Gnonto, Mateo Joseph, Sam Greenwood, Crysencio Summerville and Darko Gyabi have all made a first-team impression at some point during the 2022/23 season.
There will be players who don’t make it like Bogusz and it’s good the club have moved the midfielder on, as opposed to letting him stagnate in West Yorkshire.
In other Leeds United, the Whites are now in pole position to seal their first signing under Javi Gracia despite interest from a Premier League rival.
