Leeds United hold advantage and remain favourites to sign Barcelona attacker Ilias Akhomach despite Arsenal interest

Leeds United reportedly remain favourites to sign Barcelona attacker Ilias Akhomach despite Arsenal showing an interest in signing him.

According to Sport [23 March], the Whites hold the advantage over the Gunners and other suitors including Sevilla and AC Milan to sign the Spaniard.

The 18-year-old appears certain to seal his Camp Nou exit in the summer, but it’s understood that the Catalan side will be due compensation for his services.

Big coup

If Leeds can sign the winger ahead of so many top European sides then it’s going to be a major coup for them.

It’s still not certain how and why Leeds hold an advantage but it could be because they’ve already promised certain things to the teenager with regard to game time.

At clubs like Arsenal, Milan and perhaps even Sevilla, he may take longer to break into the first team while Leeds could guarantee him direct training with the seniors.

He’s already made senior appearances for Barcelona so it’s not like representing Leeds will faze him in any way.

In fact, he will like to prove his critics at Camp Nou wrong for not valuing him enough and he can move to Elland Road and silence them.

Even Willy Gnonto joined at 18 and as a virtually unknown player and it can be argued that he’s one of Leeds’ best attacking threats and will only get better in the coming years.

In other Leeds United news, a Whites player has explained that he’s set to transfer clubs and the move appears subject to an official announcement.
