Mateo Joseph waves goodbye to teammates as Leeds agree January transfer

Leeds United look set to complete the signing of Espanyol sensation Mateo Joseph Fernandez at the start of January.

La Grada has reported that the young striker has already waved goodbye to his teammates in Spain as he waits for the move.

The online outlet have shared that the Whites have finally agreed a fee to seal the deal despite his contract running out in 2022.

Leeds were hoping to get a cut-price deal to seal the move, but that doesn’t look to have happened in the end.

The Whites are said to have caved and agreed to pay the asking price to get the move done in January and beat the competition.

The Espanyol board were said to be firm in their stance, something that ended up benefitting them as they look set to receive what they wanted.

Victor Orta is constantly updating his shortlist and it looks as though he is set to welcome another young sensation through the revolving Thorp Arch doors.

Joseph has enjoyed a stunning few years in the Espanyol academy, scoring goals for fun on a regular basis in Spain.

The youngster scored a hat-trick against the famous academy of Barcelona last season and is looking to move on to bigger and better things.

January business usually isn’t familiar to the Whites, but it looks as though next year could be different – let’s hope this is followed by some first-team additions.
