Massive Bielsa contract hint dropped as Leeds make big announcement

It was a busy day for Leeds United on Monday. Two new sponsors were announced for the training kit (Clipper) and the front-of-shirt (SBOTOP).

Two new transfers were announced in the evening. First Jack Harrison on a new loan deal and then Wigan striker Joe Gelhardt on a permanent four-year deal.

And Gelhardt let out a massive hint that Marcelo Bielsa will be signing a new contract in his post-signing interview.

As posted on the official Leeds United Twitter page, Gelhardt said, “I’m made up, it’s a massive club. I love scoring goals and I’m a hard worker. Marcelo is a great manager and I’m looking forward to developing under him.”

Earlier, fans had noticed what Harrison had said in his post-signing interview, too.

“We’re going to continue doing that under Marcelo and I think everyone’s more excited than anything about getting back in the Premier League and playing again,” Harrison said with a smile.

Bielsa – announcement on Tuesday is our bet

We always had faith that Bielsa would sign a new deal but this almost rubber stamps it.

There’s no way that Leeds would be putting out stuff like this on its official channel if Bielsa wasn’t signing.

In fact, we think this signifies that it’s all but done and we think there’s going to be an official announcement on Tuesday.

It’s perfect timing – the players are back in training at Thorp Arch on Wednesday and there’s absolutely no way we can see Bielsa not being there.

If he’s there he has to have signed a new contract.

That makes today the day that we expect to see a tweet from Leeds with a picture of white smoke on it. And it’s a tweet that will cause celebrations to break out among Leeds fans around the world.
