Martin Keown reflects on Leeds United win v Wolves live on talkSPORT, amid 'Snakes and Ladders' relegation fight

Martin Keown has labelled the 4-2 win for Leeds United against Wolves as “incredible” considering what is at stake in the “Snakes and Ladders” relegation battle that they are part of this season.

Javi Gracia’s side turned on the style at the Molineux Stadium on Saturday (18 March), with goals from Jack Harrison, Luke Ayling, Rasmus Kristensen and an injury-time strike from Rodrigo sealing a box-office win.

The victory saw Leeds catapult up the Premier League table into 14th with 11 games of their season remaining, and Keown acknowledged on talkSPORT (Monday 20 March, 12:23 pm) the amount that was at stake in the relegation six-pointer at the weekend.

“It’s like Snakes and Ladders at the bottom of the table where you just win one game and go all the way up the table,” he said.

“I think Leeds have shown that this weekend, that was an incredible game with Wolves. So much at stake.”

Leeds United finally decided to show their hand against Wolves, with Gracia’s side finally clicking into gear in the final third and unleashing some deadly attacking football.

After weeks of strong performances but not the points to match them, they delivered the goods, much to the relief of the Elland Road faithful.

Although the timing of the international break will be frustrating for the team, heading into it in the lofty height of 14th position will be a great relief to everyone at the club.

Granted, they still only remain two points above the drop zone, but the comprehensive win can be the result that Leeds needed to hop on board a ladder and move clear of the bottom three.

With Rodrigo back from injury, Tyler Adams’ injury not as bad as first feared, and the front three finally discovering their shooting boots, things look positive for Leeds heading into the international break.
