Marseille gazump Leeds United and announce signing of Azzedine Ounahi
Marseille have announced the signing of Azzedine Ounahi from Angers amid links with a host of clubs including Leeds United.
According to 90 Min [28 January], Leeds, Leicester City and Napoli all made transfer bids for the Morocco international but did not succeed in signing him.
The team that did was the Ligue 1 outfit as they gazumped the aforementioned trio and announced the deal via their official Twitter handle.
They wrote, “Olympique de Marseille announces an agreement in principle with Angers SCO for the permanent transfer of AzzedineOunahi to the club.”
Strange one
Angers could’ve ended up making more money if they sold Ounahi to one of the three clubs or any other club willing to pay more than what Marseille did.

It seemed like all January they were hiking up his price and drumming up interest from everywhere only to sell him at a fee he was worth before the World Cup too.
Regardless, we do not think many at Elland Road will be losing sleep over this as they appear to have secured a midfield signing of their own.
Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie appears set to move to Leeds on a loan-to-buy deal which means that it’s going to be a cost-efficient move for the Whites.
We cannot wait to see how he fares as he’s been tremendous alongside Tyler Adams for the United States national team and Leeds’ style of football surely suits him.
Hopefully, the deal should be announced in the next 24-48 hours as it helps nobody to keep it going until the final few hours of the window.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites appear to be on the cusp of another January signing as a player’s agent jets into the United Kingdom to conduct final transfer talks.
