‘Mark my words’ – Stan Collymore makes bold PL claim on Leeds after Hull victory
Stan Collymore has backed Leeds United to surprise people in the Premier League next season should they secure promotion to the top flight.
After the 4-0 win against Hull City at the KCOM Stadium, Collymore claimed that the Whites are getting closer to the top-flight each week.
The former Liverpool and England playmaker seemed to admit that he believes Leeds will finish in the top two this season.
Collymore pointed out that under the management of Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds will be hard to beat in the top-flight next season.
“Leeds took a step closer to their long-overdue return to the Premier League this week – and I’m putting my marker down early,” he wrote via Leeds Live.
“With the way they operate under manager Marcelo Bielsa and fewer games to play, they are going to surprise one or two people next season. You mark my words.”
Leeds are currently five points clear of the play-offs and a single point behind West Brom with only 10 games remaining in the Championship.
Collymore may have every right to believe that Leeds will be in the Premier League, although we are approaching the subject with caution.
Nate Silver, a prediction expert, has released his latest update on his website FiveThirtyEight. Based on that index, Leeds have a 96% of being automatically promoted to the Premier League.
On top of that, Leeds are now favourites to finish top of the pile and lift the Championship title – having a 64% of doing just that.
