Mark Lawrenson predicts outcome of Leeds clash v Burnley

Mark Lawrenson has backed Leeds United to beat Burnley in their Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Whites travel to Turf Moor looking to make it consecutive wins after the stunning 3-1 victory over Spurs last time out.

Burnley confirmed their Premier League status this week, by relegating Fulham after their latest clash on Monday evening.

Writing in his BBC predictions column, Lawrenson admitted he has been thrilled by the Whites and believes they will win 2-1.

“Burnley made sure of their safety, and relegated Fulham at the same time, with their win at Craven Cottage on Monday,” he said.

“Because they know they are staying up, Sean Dyche’s side might be more open than usual here – this game has an ‘end of season’ feel to it.

“Leeds will definitely go for it again though. They were very impressive in their win over Tottenham last time out, and in control for most of it.”

Burnley away is one of the toughest trips on the calendar, and their recent form has certainly made this a bigger task.

Chris Wood has scored five in his previous three games and is in the form of his life as he faces his former side at Turf Moor.

The reverse fixture wasn’t the easiest at Elland Road, as the Clarets dominated the second half and a controversial call from the officials handed us all three points.

Sean Dyche has aimed swipes at the Whites previously and supposedly spending millions of pounds compared to his side, and it is time to wipe that smirk off his face.

Lawrenson is clearly a massive fan of the Whites, and finishing this season strongly as possible will catapult us into a European push next year hopefully.
