Marcelo Bielsa: This is why Pablo Hernandez was missing for Leeds v Burnley

Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez has picked up another injury as the Premier League season comes to an end.

The Whites crushed Burnley 4-0 at Turf Moor this afternoon, but the Spaniard was a notable absence in Lancashire.

Hernandez came off the bench against Brighton two weeks ago but has been rarely seen for the majority of this campaign.

Marcelo Bielsa confirmed the injury after the full-time whistle at Burnley, as Graham Smyth shared on his personal Twitter account on Saturday.

“Pablo Hernandez has a minor knock,” he wrote.

“Robin Kock has a hip niggle. Bielsa didn’t want to risk either of them today.”

Waving goodbye?

Despite being one of our biggest heroes of the past decade, it appears as though we are slowly waving goodbye to El Mago.

Hernandez was one of the main reasons behind our promotion back to the Premier League, but things just haven’t been the same since his tantrum against Leicester all those months ago.

The Mirror recently reported that Bielsa wants Hernandez to stay at Elland Road for another season, with one year left on his current deal.

That appears unlikely, though, with Castellon waiting to make their move after a failed move back in January.

Hernandez is nearing the end of his career, and he will want to be playing football rather than sitting on the bench every week, which is where he would be next season.
