Marcelo Bielsa recommends double Jan move for Leeds, loan-to-buy deals possible - report

Marcelo Bielsa has recommended that Leeds United make a double move for Fiorentina duo Christian Kouame and Erick Pulgar, according to La Nazione.

The Italian outlet claim on their website that the Whites are ready to knock on the door of the Serie A club to force through the deal.

It is suggested that Leeds could sign both on initial loan deals, with the proposal to keep both at Elland Road permanently in the summer.

Both of these players would solve key problems for Leeds.

Pulgar would cover the massive hole in midfield that the Whites have been missing this season, with Mateusz Klich clearly struggling and in need of a rest.

Patrick Bamford has been on fire this season, but there is clear lack of competition for his spot, and Kouame could be the man to add serious options in the final third at Elland Road.

Kouame is a fresh link, but Pulgar’s name was mentioned in the summer, with La Nazione claiming he could cost £13.5million.

Bielsa will want reinforcements but isn’t a massive fan of the January market.

Loan-to-buy deals are usually the best bet for any clubs, but last season certainly proved that Leeds may have their guard up.

Jean-Kevin Augustin arrived in West Yorkshire from RB Leipzig with a massive reputation but hardly played and didn’t score. The Whites eventually cancelled that deal – one that could still cost them up to £18million.

Phil Hay has claimed that Victor Orta will only make moves next month should any bargains arrive, and two loan moves for the Fiorentina duo could be classed as just that.

Pulgar would be the better signing of the two, with Kouame only scoring one goal in his 13 appearances this season, although that did come against Inter Milan.

We don’t expect Leeds to be very busy next month, but if they can bring in both Kouame and Pulgar on loan, they could make some exceptions.
