'Not convinced' - Mark Lawrenson predicts result of Leeds clash v West Brom
Mark Lawrenson has backed Leeds United to beat West Brom in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.
The BBC pundit has predicted that the Whites will come away from the Hawthorns with a 2-0 victory, backing up their win against Burnley yesterday.
Leeds bounced back from their defeat at Manchester United, and the Baggies picked up an impressive 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday evening.
Writing in his BBC predictions column, Lawrenson claimed he isn’t convinced by West Brom’s ability to beat Leeds, before backing the away side.
“West Brom surprised everyone by getting a point at Anfield, but they deserved it,” he said. “This is another test for the Baggies defence because you just know that Leeds will come at them in waves.
“They were well organised and showed the spirit that Sam Allardyce will demand from them in that draw with Liverpool, but do they have the quality they need to win games like this? I am not convinced.”
Looking at the busy Christmas period, the Burnley game being followed by a trip to West Brom are two games Leeds would have targeted for points.
The first half of that job is done, now it’s the trip to the Hawthorns.
Sam Allardyce is set to take charge of his third game for the Albion, and he could get punished if he sits back and let Leeds come forward and pressure them.
The Whites struggled more in the second half against Burnley because they pressed higher and made it harder for them to pass the ball inbetween the lines.
Leeds can punish any side, and these are the games they need to pick up wins – something that could spell danger for the Baggies.
