Marcelo Bielsa house hunting as Leeds United contract talks continue
Leeds United are yet to confirm Marcelo Bielsa’s new contract with the finer details yet to be fully agreed upon by all parties, according to Phil Hay.
Writing on The Athletic website, Hay reports that Leeds staff don’t think Bielsa, 66, has taken a day off since the end of last season while it is understood that he has been looking at new houses.
It is understood that with pre-season underway, Leeds are still “applying the finishing touches to an extension for the next 12 months” and there will not be an agreement until Bielsa is 100 per cent happy with everything.
No rush and no worries
We waited until the Premier League season had almost started last year before Bielsa’s contract extension was formally announced by Leeds.
We do not have any worries about Bielsa leaving Elland Road, especially with the commitment he’s shown since the end of last season.
Will there be any other manager in the Premier League – or even in the whole of the UK – who hasn’t had a day off since last season finished? If there was one, you’d know it was Bielsa, who’s no doubt been helping assemble Powerpoint presentations for new signings, analysing opposition and tweaking his tactics ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
You would hope that an official confirmation comes soon but ultimately, it doesn’t matter. It simply seems as though it’s a formality before the Argentine literally puts pen to paper on his new deal.
Leeds are in a great place at the moment and, after years of turmoil, are one of the best-run clubs in the country.
We really cannot wait for next season to get underway and see how far Bielsa can really take this team after a couple more additions to his playing squad.
