Marc Roca falls into oblivion despite his agreement to quit Leeds United

Leeds United loanee Marc Roca is well out of favour at La Liga club Real Betis despite agreeing a deal to depart Elland Road permanently, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish publication has reported that the loanee has fallen to fourth in the midfield pecking order at Betis, leaving him “ostracised” and in limbo with no permanent summer transfer agreement between the clubs yet.

Roca has agreed on terms to join Betis, with a permanent exit or second loan move still on the cards depending on if Leeds are promoted or not.

Could Marc Roca return to Leeds United?

Leeds are unlikely to want Roca back at Elland Road anytime soon, given how quickly he (and several other players) pushed their way out the door on loan following the Whites’ relegation.

However, the lack of a permanent transfer agreement with the Spaniard’s current club Real Betis could throw a spanner into the works, particularly if Roca’s lack of game time results in the Verdiblancos passing up the chance to sign him this summer.

Marc Roca signed for Real Betis permanently after his loan from Leeds United last season.

Another overriding factor is the status of Leeds themselves this summer. If they’re able to get past Norwich City and West Brom or Southampton in the Championship play-offs, they will hold all the cards as a Premier League club awash with fresh revenue.

It is implied, however, that if the club remain in the second tier for another season, they could be forced into another loan deal for Roca, or a “low-cost transfer.”

Either way, it looks all but impossible that we’ll see Roca in the white shirt of Leeds again, but given his under-par performances both last season and now for Real Betis at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, it’s doubtful that many will miss him at Elland Road.
