Manor Solomon too good for Championship after what he did on Leeds United debut v Hull
Neil Redfearn was full of praise for Leeds United debutant Manor Solomon following the 2-0 victory over Hull City on Saturday (31 August).
Leeds signed the Tottenham winger on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window, coming straight into the starting XI to face the Tigers and opening his goal contributions account at Elland Road.
The 25-year-old delivered a fantastic cross into the near post for youngster Mateo Joseph to open the scoring, with Joel Piroe eventually cementing the win as an impact substitute.
Speaking via BBC Radio Leeds, quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post on Monday (2 September), Redfearn said: “I thought Manor Solomon was probably the man of the match.
“He has got a quality that’s better than this level, you can obviously say that. Initially, in the first 20 minutes, it was like tackling smoke and he was unplayable at times.”
Manor Solomon introduces himself to Leeds United crowd v Hull City
Following the departures of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, Daniel Farke was crying out for the board at Elland Road to bring in some reinforcements for the 2024/25 campaign.
Also joining Largie Ramazani at Elland Road, the manager got his wish in the final few hours of the window, adding the Premier League winger to the squad.
Following his first appearance in Leeds colours, it is already clear that Solomon is ready to thrive in the Championship despite spending much of his Spurs career on the treatment table.
Considering this, the Whites need to be careful not to overuse him, but the early signs are extremely positive after grabbing an assist just 63 minutes into his loan spell.
Fans will just need to be careful about falling in love with a loan player, however. It is certainly early in the season, but Solomon looks to be a real talent for the Whites.
