Manchester United fans join in with Leeds United chants at Old Trafford
Manchester United and Barnsley fans joined in unison to chant about Leeds United in their Carabao Cup tie on 17 September, Leon Wobschall has shared.
The Yorkshire Post writer reported via X that despite being 5-0 down at the time, Barnsley decided to chant about their Yorkshire rivals which made the Stretford End at Old Trafford join in.
The Tykes ended up losing the game 7-0 and never really had a chance against the Premier League side.
Wobschall wrote: “Barnsley sing about Leeds and the Stretford End joins in.”
Manchester United embarrass themselves again
While both Barnsley and Manchester United embarrassed themselves with the chants, the Whites need to just crack on with their own goals.
Leeds haven’t had the best of starts to the 2024/25 season and, with pressure mounting around the future of Daniel Farke, things need to change soon.
In all fairness, the club have had a fairly tough start to their Championship campaign, facing the likes of West Brom and Burnley but it feels like they still should have performed far better than what they have.
Granted, some of the new arrivals haven’t yet been afforded the chance to start a game such as Isaac Schmidt, but, the fact that Bundesliga clubs were vying for his transfer over the summer, shows what sort of talent Leeds has on their hands [Leeds Live].
It’s still early in the season and there’s plenty of time for things to turn around but if that doesn’t happen soon, the club could find themselves in a rather sticky situation.
