Manchester City want to sign Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips
Manchester City are the latest club to have joined the race to prise Kalvin Phillips out of Leeds United, according to Spanish media outlet Fichajes.
Per the report, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on signing the 25-year-old.
The Citizens are understood to be tracking the midfielder and are unlikely to let their local rivals sign the England international for a reported £60million fee.
It is also understood that he’s not keen on moving to Old Trafford, given how his entire family are Leeds fans.
Here we go again
Phillips and Raphinha are two Leeds players that will continually be linked with moves to big clubs.
Should Leeds finish in the bottom half, there is a good chance that one of the two part ways with the Elland Road club.
The Englishman is a Yorkshire lad and has a special affinity with the fans so it will take something special for him to leave the club.
However, teams like Manchester City don’t come knocking on doors too often and this could be the final chance he gets to play for Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
While the Elland Road faithful would hate to see him leave, they would see it from his perspective as well.
He is unlikely to play in the Champions League for Leeds and he could challenge for the biggest trophies at City.
Phillips is unlikely to move to Man United as that would ostracise the fanbase, but a move to City appears to be on the cards.
