Kalvin Phillips did not appear injured after Leeds United v Brighton
Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips did not appear to be injured in the aftermath of the 0-0 draw against Brighton on Saturday.
According to LeedsLive’s Beren Cross, he looked like he was struggling with his body all game, but at full-time none of that was visible as he was meeting up with his teammates once the referee blew the whistle.
Marcelo Bielsa also insisted in his press conference that there was no injury which has led to Cross raising concerns over the half-time substitution.
He wrote, “There was clear hobbling, there was clear stretching and a clear conversation with fitness coach Benoit Delaval just before the break which saw him pointing to his lower leg.
“The assumption had been an injury when he was withdrawn before the second half, but Bielsa refuted that notion entirely in his post-match press conference.
“Phillips was in his tracksuit at full-time, waiting for his teammates on the touchline to embrace them and pat them on the back, smiling. This was not someone off their feet and needing treatment.

“If Phillips is okay then the big plus is his availability for Tuesday’s clash, but the concern is, without an injury, Bielsa felt it was necessary to take his England international off the field.”
All not well?
It was strange to see Bielsa taking off one of his best players – although he wasn’t having that great of a game on Saturday.
He publically questioned the Argentine’s decision to deploy him in defence and once again, he did not appear to be confident in that position v Brighton.
Instead of moving him to midfield, Bielsa did what few thought he would, and decided to bring off the England international.
Phillips is someone whose presence in the heart of midfield gives Leeds the control they need.
The attacking players are more assured when he has the ball as they usually expect that he’ll play a pass that kick-starts a goal-scoring opportunity.
While we hope that there’s nothing going on between Phillips and Bielsa, all does not seem to be well behind the scenes at Elland Road.
