Manchester City could make move for Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips after Fernandinho announcement
Manchester City have been linked with a move for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips this summer.
However, with two midfielders in Rodri and Fernandinho fighting for the number six role as well as Ilkay Gundogan playing there on occasion, they did not need another player there.
That could very well change as the Brazilian midfielder has announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Fabrizio Romano shared his quotes via his personal Twitter account after he said, “I want to play. I will go back to Brazil, for sure. I’ve decided with my family, it’s the most important for me”
The Athletic’s David Ornstein recently said that Manchester City could rival Manchester United for the signature of the English midfielder this summer.
The Brazilian’s imminent departure could see the Citizens plan in advance and Phillips will certainly be on their wishlist.
He has excelled since Leeds secured promotion to the Premier League last season and has become a regular for the Three Lions as well.

Raphinha already appears to be on the verge of an Elland Road exit this summer and losing Phillips as well will be a huge blow for Jesse Marsch.
While the 26-year-old is currently in talks over an extension, a lucrative offer from City and the chance to play in the Champions League and challenge for titles may be hard to turn down.
It remains to be seen how this entire saga transpires.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
