Luke Ayling long shot to start for Leeds United v Brentford
Leeds United defender Luke Ayling is unlikely to start against Brentford on Sunday in the Premier League.
That’s according to Beren Cross, who reported yesterday (December 3) that the Englishman was set to return to the squad for the Bees clash.
However, in his recent article for LeedsLive, Cross claims that the 30-year-old is a long shot for a starting berth.
Ease him back
Having Ayling available for the game is in itself a big deal and it’s important that Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa do not rush him back into the game.
He will still be a bit fragile from months spent on the sidelines and he’s yet to regain his match sharpness.
Ayling played 45 minutes for the Under-23s this week so that could mean that the plans were to hand him some time for the senior team.
It may be a possibility in the second half, but much like Cross, we do not see him starting this game.
Hopefully, the Whites pick up from where they left off against Crystal Palace and register two wins on the bounce for the first time this season.
Patrick Bamford will also be eyeing a return for this one and that could see Bielsa having a fully fit eleven for the first time this season.
It goes without saying how much he would cherish that luxury and hopefully this can result in three more points on Sunday.
