Linesman provoked Matheus Nunes as Wolves to submit video evidence for Leeds United controversy
A remark made by the linesman provoked Matheus Nunes during Wolves’ 4-2 Premier League defeat to Leeds United, according to The Telegraph.
The Portuguese midfielder was sent off by referee Michael Salsbury despite not even making an appearance at Molineux on Saturday (18 March).
It’s understood Wolves are set to submit video footage which they believe will prove Nunes’ incident of violent conduct towards the official (Telegraph, 19 March).
The FA will have to review Salsbury’s report before considering an investigation into the fiery end of the Premier League clash.
Eventful
That was an eventful afternoon in the West Midlands, but, thankfully, Leeds left with all three points. It’s hard to cast a judgement on the Nunes incident due to the lack of camera angles, but the red card which was shown to Jonny will stand.

There was talk of Julen Lopetegui wanting to appeal the full-back’s sending off which would be a ludicrous call. It was a horrible challenge and Luke Ayling was extremely lucky to walk away from the incident unscathed.
Looking at the bigger picture, it’s about time Javi Gracia’s side got the rub of the green. The three points could be absolutely vital in their battle to beat the drop. Leeds are now up to 14th in the Premier League table and just one point behind Lopetegui’s men.
There will be plenty of twists and turns in between now and the end of the season, but beating your rivals is an absolute must for the Yorkshire side. Up next is a daunting trip to Arsenal before two favourable home fixtures against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.
