Liam Rosenior says he deserves what happened to him against Leeds United
Liam Rosenior has admitted he deserved his touchline yellow card in Hull City’s clash against Leeds United.
Speaking to Hull Live (20 September), the Tigers’ boss confessed that he “took one for the team” in the 15th minute after he toed the ball away as it went out for a throw-in to prevent a quick Leeds transition.
The spoils were shared at the MKM Stadium on Wednesday night (20 September) in a 0-0 stalemate, but late drama from Hull’s Adama Traore could have given all three points to the home side.

Rosenior said: “Yeah, to be, to be fair, I did deserve that. The ball landed at my feet and my biggest fear of this game was Leeds in transition.
“He could have picked the ball up, throwing it down the side and Dan James can run about 100 miles an hour. So I just toed it away and took one for the team there. So I deserved that one.”
Honest
While Rosenior’s actions on the touchline would have been a great source of frustration for the Leeds United fanbase, players and managers, his honesty here is quite refreshing.
Early in the first half of the encounter, Rosenior poked the out-of-play ball away from the oncoming Dan James, who intended to utilise the opportunity to spring a quick attack against the Tigers.
Referee Stephen Martin opted to brandish a yellow for the former Brighton player for his actions, something Rosenior admits was the right call.

Hull’s boss is not a stranger to a touchline warning, having been shown a red card in the Tiger’s Championship opener against Norwich City. Now, Rosenior is just one warning away from his second touchline ban of the season.
Farke will no doubt be frustrated by the action of his managerial counter, but his key frustration must be his attacking line’s lack of goal threat against Hull. His side had plenty of chances to put the game to bed – as did Hull, in fairness – but Roesnior’s cautioned action realistically had little say on the outcome.
Rosenior will look to be much more disciplined for the remainder of the season, but at least he did not hide away from his due criticism.
