Liam Cooper to start in Leeds United v Liverpool as Sky Sports pundit rages at ‘awful’ defence

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson wants Liam Cooper to start for Leeds United in the Whites’ upcoming Premier League fixture against Liverpool on Monday (17 April).

Javi Gracia’s side are facing their third home match in a row and are looking to bounce back from their humiliation against Crystal Palace.

Robinson believes Cooper’s experience could well be invaluable during the run-in and has backed the Scotland international to return against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“The back four has been so awful in recent games with the goals they’ve conceded in recent games and he’s got the club captain and extremely experienced international central defender sat on the bench,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“He’s got to play against Liverpool in place of Stuijk or Koch; they can’t play together. They both play better when they’re alongside Liam Cooper.

“You can’t expect to ride with the same team and expect that things will be different. You have to make changes.”

Liverpool head to Elland Road boosted by the return of Luiz Diaz, who has missed the majority of the 2022/23 season with a knee injury.

The fixture against the Reds is followed by two favourable games against out-of-form Fulham and Leicester City for Leeds.
