Lewis Bate spotted in Leeds United training after ankle injury in March

Leeds United midfielder Lewis Bate has been spotted in first-team training along with Kalvin Phillips.

The summer signing has played two senior games this term but has been on the bench on a number of occasions.

On March 20, Bate was taken off in an U-23s game against Chelsea due to an ankle injury, according to Leeds Live journalist Joe Donnohue.

Via his personal Twitter account, Bate shared the pictures and captioned it, “Focused.”

Set for minutes?

A few more points on the board should guarantee Leeds staying in the Premier League for the second straight season.

After all the troubles they’ve faced this term, they would take that, no questions asked.

However, once that is done, Jesse Marsch may look to tinker his squad around a bit and give players who otherwise wouldn’t feature, a chance in the first team.

Bate is one such player who’s only featured because of injuries but can prove to everyone why he was signed.

He was one of Chelsea’s top academy prospects and is likelier to break into the Leeds United first team.

We’ve seen plenty of him to be impressed and hopefully, he does feature again in the Premier League this season.

He hasn’t featured under Marsch thus far but the American surely would be watching him in training as a number of the youngsters train with the first team and Bate has been spotted with the likes of Phillips.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
