Leo Hjelde returning to Leeds United training on Tuesday after injury blow

Mark Jackson has confirmed that Leeds United defender Leo Hjelde will return to training at Thorp Arch today.

The Norwegian sensation has been a regular in the Premier League matchday squads this season but has been missing since November.

The under-23s drew 0-0 against Everton last night (20th December) and it looks as though Marcelo Bielsa will have one more face to welcome back.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post last night, Jackson addressed the injuries issues at Thorp Arch in recent months.

“They’ve been out for a little while now,” Jackson said.

“Leo hurt his calf against Man City but he is due to return to training tomorrow [Tuesday].”

Every face welcome.

Hjlede is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Whites, but it is a real possibility if this crisis continues.

Right now, every new face is welcome at Thorp Arch and Elland Road, especially with our mounting injury problems.

Charlie Cresswell joined Pascal Struijk and Liam Cooper as defenders with problems this week, with Diego Llorente now struck by illness too.

Luke Ayling is filling in centrally alongside Robin Koch, but both have had big issues with injuries this season already.

Should one of them break down, Hjelde could be the next in line, although he does have senior experience in his career.

While at Celtic, the Norwegian youth international went on loan to Ross County and was labelled the next Virgil van Dijk, he may get a chance to prove that sooner rather than later.
