Leigh Bromby shares Leeds United promotion verdict after Oxford victory
Leigh Bromby believes Leeds United will be “in the top two” by the end of the 2024/25 Championship season.
The Whites destroyed Oxford United 4-0 in their game on Saturday (21 December) and took another step to guarantee themselves automatic promotion by the end of the campaign.
Daniel Farke’s men are still sitting second in the Championship table and are three points adrift of Sheffield United but if they can continue their run of form, it’s hard to see why they’d take their foot off the gas any time soon.
Speaking on the West Yorkshire Sport Daily Show (21 December), former Leeds defender Bromby shared his thoughts on the Whites’ promotion chances.
“I think they’ve been two good signings [Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka] in terms of those players coming in so he’s now got great options now,” he said.
“The squad, you know people will ask about January but the squad looks really strong and if he keeps them fit, and with this form that they’ve got, I think they will be in the top two”.
Leeds United can’t afford to miss out on Premier League promotion this season
Since the start of the campaign, Leeds have been one of the strongest sides in the second tier, which is reflected by their league position.
Thanks to their summer signings and the quality of players who arrived, they’ve been touted as one of the favourites to win the title and, so far, they’ve lived up to those expectations.
Last season, they got ever-so-close to earning their Premier League status back at the first time of asking but fell just short after they were defeated 1-0 by Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley.

With this disappointment no doubt still fresh in their minds, it’s not hard to understand why Leeds have come out as strongly as they have this term and why every game feels like they’re out for vengeance.
At the moment, things are going swimmingly for the West Yorkshire outfit and as long as their performances keep to this level, it feels like nothing could stop them from moving up to the top tier.
