Leeds youngster Josh Galloway rejected by Barrow following trial

Leeds United youngster Josh Galloway will not be signing for Barrow after going on trial at the club, according to The Mail.

It was reported by the same outlet last week that the League Two outfit were taking a look at the 19-year-old.

Galloway played for Barrow in a Lancashire Cup tie with Burnley two weeks ago and has since spent time training with the Bluebirds.

However, a move to Holker Street has now been ruled out, with Barrow manager Mark Cooper confirming: “We’ve not chosen to do anything on that one”.

Looking to the future

It doesn’t seem as if Galloway has much of a future at Leeds, with his contract expiring at Elland Road at the end of the season.

The trial at Barrow was intended to help the teenager find a club ahead of that happening, but it has not worked out on this occasion.

Therefore do not be surprised to see Galloway head out to other clubs in the coming months as he attempts to get his future sorted.

More lower league sides may decide to take a look at him or he could head back to his native Scotland.

The winger was very highly rated while on the books of Carlisle United, who he joined at the age of nine, and was even named on the bench for a League Two game at the age of 17.

Leeds snapped him up later that month and he progressed from the Under-18s to the Under-23s, but now his development seems to have stalled at Thorp Arch.

In comparison, Liam McCarron, who signed from Carlisle at the same time as Galloway, has been named on the bench for five Premier League fixtures so far this season.
