Leeds will finalise Junior Firpo deal in hours, no sell-on clause included

Leeds United will finalise the signing of Barcelona defender Junior Firpo in the coming hours, according to Sport.

The Spanish outlet has been at the heart of this deal since it began, and shared that the left-back is arriving in the UK to complete his medical.

In a major update, the Whites have managed to include no sell-on clause for the 24-year-old, who will sign for under £13million before add-ons.

This is a huge move by Victor Orta.

Firpo was wanted around Europe, and by big Italian clubs such as Napoli and AC Milan, who wanted initial loans.

That interest won’t just disappear overnight, especially now he will be playing regular games in the Premier League.

As soon as Firpo completes one season under Marcelo Bielsa, his transfer value will easily more than double down the line.

This move should be complete by the end of this weekend, and then we can move onto the next one down the line.

A left-back was the clear priority at Elland Road, and moving early will allow Firpo longer than a full month of pre-season training under Bielsa.

It is turning into the perfect weekend for the Whites, who have handed Stuart Dallas a new contract and confirmed the permanent signing of Jack Harrison.

Firpo will be arriving in West Yorkshire today and will join up with the likes of Rodrigo and Diego Llorente who he may know well from his time in Spain.

We may be heaping heavy praise on Orta, but he can’t stop there and has to keep going to make this squad capable of challenging for Europe – this is the perfect first step.
