Leeds United youngster Cody Drameh could leave if not in squad v Newcastle

Leeds United youngster Cody Drameh could leave the club in January if he is not amongst the subs at Newcastle on 31 December, according to Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross.

Drameh is a bright young talent but doesn’t seem to be making any dints in the first-team at the Whites, despite an uproar of fans wanting him to make an impact.

Cross confessed that there is nothing to “dissuade” Drameh from an exit after the 21-year-old’s conspicuous absence from the squad on 28 December.

“The public message from Marsch has repeatedly been warm on Cody Drameh. The young right-back has a future at Elland Road and he will be shown he can get minutes with Leeds, perhaps even imminently,” as quoted by Leeds Live.

“However, the 21-year-old was conspicuous by his absence from Wednesday’s squad and if he’s not among the subs today it will do nothing to dissuade him from considering another January exit.”

Leeds United should reconsider its stance on Drameh and it’s completely baffling that they might be willing to let such a bright talent leave the squad.

Luke Ayling is getting on and simply isn’t the player he used to be and despite his obvious dressing-room presence, Drameh is simply a better option to have.

Drameh could be perfectly rotated with Rasmus Kristensen at right-back and could be molded by Marsch into a first-team starter in the coming campaigns.

At just 21-year-old Drameh still has plenty of time to improve but can still make an impact here and now, as he’s shown in his brief cameo outings.

Extending his contract is simply a must, if the youngster wants more game time then the club should send him out on loan rather than cutting ties altogether.

Another frustrating transfer move from Leeds United, selling Drameh just seems foolish at this point and makes little to no sense.
