Leeds United yet to table bid for Lewis O’Brien, Huddersfield must be ready for irresistable offers – Journalist

Leeds United are yet to table a seven-figure bid to sign Huddersfield midfielder Lewis O’Brien, according to Steven Chicken.

The local journalist has reported that the Terriers will need to be ready for any potential “irresistable” offers of cash before 11 pm.

This comes after The Sun reported over the weekend that the Whites were ready to go back in with yet another attempt to sign O’Brien before the window slams shut.

Writing for the Examiner Live, Chicken shared the latest on any potential Leeds move for the midfielder.

“There is still time for a late twist on that front, of course, with Josh Koroma attracting interest from Bournemouth last week and murmurs (but little more than that at this stage) suggesting Leeds United may revive their summer interest in Lewis O’Brien,” he wrote.

“We understand there have been no bids for either player as of Sunday afternoon, but as we know transfer deadline day can provide unexpected twists and turns, and Town will need to be braced to move quickly if an irresistible offer were to come their way for either player.”

Here we go again.

This is the classic case of linking Leeds United to a story because of their massive name, yet again with the deadline approaching.

In the report from The Sun, it claimed that the Whites were preparing to pay out the £10million buy-out clause of O’Brien, but that just isn’t going to happen.

Chicken describes it as “irresistable” money for Huddersfield, who will be prepared for it, but it’s highly unlikely.

Phil Hay reported that Leeds wouldn’t even pay up to £8million for the 23-year-old back in August, so why would that have suddenly changed months later?

Without wanting to sign negative, it looks as though it could be a quiet evening at Elland Road.
