Leeds United will not be signing Liverpool attacker Takumi Minamino

Leeds United have reportedly missed out on the services of Liverpool attacker Takumi Minamino in the January transfer window.

According to Diario La Nación reporter Claudio Mauri, the Whites will not complete any move for the Japanese international this month.

This update comes after The Daily Mail reported that the Whites and Marcel Bielsa were pushing to get a loan move over the line.

Via his personal Twitter account, Mauri wrote, ” ‘Impossible’ the chances of Leeds United and Bielsa signing Liverpool’s Minamino. Minamino will not be going to Leeds.”

Move on

Links with Minamino since they began surfacing, seemed dodgy, to say the very least.

It just appeared to be a random name from a Premier League club who wasn’t getting the game time that he wanted.

It also coincided with the Brenden Aaronson deal failing to go through so the timing seemed very convenient.

All in all, it seems unlikely that Leeds will make a move for Minamino this month.

However, they still need to sign a central midfielder and with just two days to go, they’re going to require a miracle to pull this one off.

Whether or not they can do that, remains to be seen, but it’s a good thing that they’re not continuing with their pursuit of the Liverpool attacker.

The Reds did not seem particularly willing to let him go, to begin with so it’s best for all parties.
