Leeds United will not be signing Aston Villa star Danny Ings this summer - Rob Dorsett

Aston Villa have no intention of selling Danny Ings to Leeds United this summer, according to Rob Dorsett.

The Sky Sports reporter shared the latest with the Whites, as well as fierce rivals Manchester United said to be interested in a move for the England international.

Leeds and Victor Orta are in the market for a new striker after Patrick Bamford endured the season from hell last time out, featuring only nine times.

Writing on his personal Twitter account on Monday afternoon [13 June], Dorsett shared the latest on any potential move in this summer window.

“Aston Villa have no intention of selling Danny Ings,” he wrote.

“Despite reports saying that Manchester United and Leeds United are interested.”

Nice try.

These rumours came out of nowhere, and they certainly make sense.

Ings didn’t enjoy an amazing year at Villa Park and didn’t consistently start after arriving from Southampton, but the Premier League quality is certainly there.

Leeds have had to deal with Rodrigo playing inconsistently, as well as a young Joe Gelhardt who did shine, but it was a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.

Ings has mountains of experience, and Victor Orta will have been trying to pull a rabbit out of a hat by getting one of our bigger rivals in the shape of Villa to sell up.

It appears as though Leeds are not tasting as much success in their hunt for a new striker as they have had in their other pursuits so far, but this won’t stop them.

Things can change with the blink of an eye in the transfer window, so this could certainly be one to watch over the next two months.
