Leeds United want to sign Sevilla goalkeeper Bono

Leeds United are reportedly in the hunt to bring Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, aka Bono, to Elland Road in the summer.

According to Fichajes.net [11 April], the Morocco international is growing impatient at the Spanish outfit and is going to leave the club in the summer.

He has been labelled as “One of the best” keepers in Spain and his stock is currently at a high after his stellar performances at World Cup 2022.

Meslier replacement?

Illan Meslier has not really been in good form this season and that’s a surprise given he’s improved year on year since moving to Elland Road.

He was playing with the sort of maturity a player in his prime would a few years ago, but now errors are starting to creep into his game.

If Leeds are offered good money from one of Europe’s rich clubs, they may find it hard to turn down an offer for the Frenchman.

In that scenario, having Bono as a replacement will make a lot of sense and it’s a move that they must consider as it will make a lot of sense.

He’s 32 so it’s not that he’s going to be a long-term option, but even if he can give them five good years and they’ll make decent money from Meslier’s sale, they’ll be in a good position.

It remains to be seen if this is a move they do end up pursuing once the summer transfer window opens.
