Leeds want to sign Pedro de la Vega this summer, Aston Villa also interested - report
Leeds United still want to sign Lanus attacking sensation Pedro de la Vega this summer, according to Depo.
The South American outlet has claimed on their website that a number of clubs are interested, included Fiorentina, Atalanta and our rivals Aston Villa.
It is suggested that the 19-year-old would only cost £8.6million and is destined to leave Argentina with numerous clubs sniffing around.
The Whites were linked with a move for the winger back in the previous summer.
De La Vega was only said to be worth £3.6million at the time, with his value clearly doubling since that initial move was mooted.
With the money that the Whites may have to offer much more, Victor Orta may have to move quickly with it still a bargain figure.
Atalanta and Fiorentina are big Italian clubs, but Leeds have one attractive figure that no other club has when tracking Argentinian talents.
That is Marcelo Bielsa.
Young players will have grown up with no bigger icons to follow than Lionel Messi and Bielsa, both going down as the biggest figures in their history.
De la Vega has scored 10 goals in his 67 appearances and is clearly a work in progress for Bielsa to take under his wing.
Ian Poveda and Helder Costa have been far from impressive when coming off the bench, and competition for Raphinha and Jack Harrison could be vital.
Crysencio Summerville is another young winger who could make the breakthrough at Elland Road, but de la Vega would have something to do about that.
Fiorentina have already made contact, so maybe it is time for Orta to make that call and say the magic words, ‘Bielsa wants you.’
