Leeds United want to sign Chuba Akpom as Middlesbrough exit verdict shared by Sky Sports pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has suggested it’s unlikely Chuba Akpom will move to Leeds United regardless of what league the Whites find themselves in next season.
According to talkSPORT (9 March) the 27-year-old is being watched by a number of Premier League clubs, who are set to pounce if Middlesbrough fail to gain promotion.
However, Robinson doesn’t think the Yorkshire club will stand much hope of landing the striker, with there being “bigger fish” looking at the former England youth international.

“If they go down to the Championship I don’t think they have any chance, even if they stay up, I don’t think they have much chance of Akpom,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“If he goes up with Middlesbrough I think he will want to stay there but I also think there will be bigger fish in the sea than Leeds United for him to choose from.

“I think Michael Carrick has improved him in the short time that he’s been there and he’s made him a better player. I genuinely believe if Middlesbrough don’t go up they’ll face a tough task to keep hold of him.”
The striker has been in fine form during the 2022/23 campaign, with 24 Championship goals to his name to date. The 27-year-old was loaned out numerous times during his spell at Arsenal but it appears the forward has finally settled at the Championship club.
In other Leeds United news, Chris Sutton hailed that it was “great telly” in the BT Sport studio as he watched the thrilling six-goal encounter at Molineux.
