Leeds United v Tottenham Hotspur: Tim Sherwood and Jeff Stelling blown away by Crysencio Summerville
Tim Sherwood and Jeff Stelling were blown away by Crysencio Summerville as he put Leeds United in the lead against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Illan Meslier started the attack with a long diagonal and it ended up in Eric Dier costing the hosts dearly with Summerville scoring in his fourth straight game.
Spurs managed to equalise through Harry Kane but Rodrigo scored late on and set the stage perfectly for an exciting second half of football.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Sherwood said, “Started slow and now 1-0. Deservedly for Leeds.
“Summerville comes late, he runs off the back of Dier. He takes one touch out of his feet and just rolls it past Hugo Lloris. No more than they deserved, they absolutely dominated.
“This boy is a real threat.”
To which Stelling added, “He’s not scored in his first 16 appearances and now he’s got four in four.”
Nobody expected Summerville to have the kind of purple patch he had this season and he’s now been scoring goals for fun.
We thought he would stop after a couple of games, but he’s shown no signs of slowing down and we’re delighted for him.
He was on the cusp of being loaned out over the course of the summer but we’re delighted that it was Dan James and not the Dutchman.
James does not quite have the end product as Summerville and he’s not able to threaten defences with his close control.
Spurs certainly will come out all guns blazing in the second half so Leeds must be prepared for an onslaught.
However, Jesse Marsch will certainly be thrilled with what his players have done thus far and we cannot wait for them to ride their way to the finish line with the three points.
