Leeds United unlikely to turn down £13.2m Roma transfer offer for Diego Llorente

Leeds United are reportedly unlikely to turn down an offer from Roma for Diego Llorente if it is in the region of £13.2million.

According to Il Romanista [17 April], despite the buy amount being set at £15.9million, the Whites are expected to say yes to an offer slightly lower than that.

He has impressed manager Jose Mourinho since he moved there on loan in the January transfer window and it’s reported that his exit from Elland Road is getting “more and more concrete”.

Good deal

Llorente never looked like the real deal at Leeds and struggled to nail down a spot in the playing eleven for a considerable amount of them.

He did get game time and that was due to the number of injuries to other centre-backs in the side and Leeds will be better off without him.

The pace and physicality of the Premier League didn’t suit him and he’s used to playing in Spain so there are no surprises that he’s doing well in Italy.

Games are played at a lower tempo in both these leagues and are slightly more technical with players getting more time on the ball.

He’s also playing in a team that’s expected to win most games rather than at Leeds where they’re underdogs 80 per cent of the time.

Hopefully, Leeds manage to stay up and bring in some reinforcements and a new manager to sort the current mess out.
