Leeds United transfer update emerges on Diego Llorente amid Friday night development – Fabrizio Romano

Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Leeds United defender Diego Llorente amid Roma return links.

He claims that there were discussions over the final details on Friday, 24 June, and the deal is now close to being completed.

The Spain international will be leaving Elland Road on loan once again and returning to Roma.

Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “AS Roma and Leeds United are closing in on deal for Diego Llorente to re-join Roma until the end of the next season.

“Deal being completed as final details have been discussed overnight.”

Money needed

Leeds are not benefiting in any way from this deal barring the fact that there will be a small loan fee attached.

Llorente has made it clear that he wants nothing to do with the club so they should’ve just agreed on a permanent transfer.

Roma may be unwilling to pay, but that’s their loss and surely some other club would’ve been willing to match what Leeds wanted.

This is bad transfer planning and it seems like Angus Kinnear is the one handling this as it’s been ongoing before an interim sporting director appointment was made.

Whoever the new Leeds manager is will certainly not be pleased with the fact that Llorente’s departure will not be generating any money.

It remains to be seen if an option or obligation to buy is included and how much that is worth as it’s important they make the most off every player.
