Phil Hay has issued an update on the San Francisco 49ers' impending takeover of Leeds United this summer with an announcement made.

Currently, despite the club announcing that an agreement has been reached with the NFL franchise, Andrea Radrizzani remains the owner.

Once, the EFL give the green signal, the takeover will be completed and he will be on his way out of the club.

Hay said on the Square Ball at 19:19, "I think it's likely that we may get approval or a formal completion of this in the next week.

"It certainly seems to be getting there and there don't seem to be any obstacles.

"Once it is complete and once Radrizzani is gone and they are officially 100 per cent owners of the club then the freedom to speak on this and that becomes easier and becomes greater."

Delaying the manager announcement?

There's a good chance that because the takeover hasn't gone through the official channels yet, progress isn't being on the managerial front.

Even if it is, they'll need to go through the legal routes and it's not possible that an announcement can be made before the takeover goes through.

It will be surprising if it does but there's a good chance that both announcements take place at the same time.

The managerial search has been taking place this week and the interview process is understood to be finished which means a decision on the ideal candidate.

After that, it will be down to the finer details of his contract and how many coaches he can bring and the transfer budget among other things.

Right now, it seems like Patrick Vieira and Daniel Farke are the frontrunners but it's premature to rule anyone else out.
