Leeds United transfer news: Rangers update emerges on Celtic target Joe Gelhardt pursuit
There is nothing yet from Rangers in terms of making contact with Leeds United over signing Celtic target Joe Gelhardt, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist reported on 9 January via Patreon that Plymouth had already enquired over the availability of the Liverpool born striker but there was nothing yet from Gers.
Daily Mail reported on 8 January that even Celtic were keen on securing the services of the 21-year-old this summer.

Loan makes sense
Gelhardt is currently on the fringes of Daniel Farke’s squad and regular playing time is crucial for his development.
Sending him out on loan to a club like Plymouth Argyle, who are not a promotion rival, will ensure that he gets the necessary minutes on the pitch.
If Rangers or Celtic, both linked to the player, are willing to cover most or all of his wages, it becomes a financially sound decision for Leeds.

This not only eases the burden on Leeds’ wage bill but also allows Gelhardt to contribute elsewhere and gain valuable experience in a different competitive environment.
Either way, there’s a high likelihood of the young striker being on the move in the January transfer window and it remains to be seen where he ends up.
He knows that if he is to secure his future at Elland Road at a side that could potentially be in the Premier League next season, he’s got to deliver in the next few months.
In other Leeds United news, an international player linked with a move to Elland Road is unhappy at his current club and could be on his way out in the January transfer window.
