Leeds United to sack Daniel Farke quickly, he thinks he is ‘dead man walking’

Leeds finally secured the Championship title on Saturday, but it may not be enough for Daniel Farke to save his job.

Doubts recently emerged over the German’s ability to lead the Elland Road outfit in the Premier League after his dismal record with Norwich.

The 48-year-old won just six of his 49 matches in the top-flight in his stint at Carrow Road and the 49ers ownership group could hand Farke his marching orders.

Despite winning the title, though, Farke was pictured sitting by himself with his head in his hands following the 2-1 win at Plymouth.

Farke is a ‘dead man walking’ at Leeds

If the decision is made to sack Farke, it would be extremely harsh given that he has led the Whites to the title and a 100-point season.

The concerns over his record in the top tier are valid, though, and Paraag Marathe and Co. could be ruthless as they seek survival upon their return to the elite level.

Troy Deeney believes that Farke’s demeanour at Home Park suggests that he is aware that he will be handed his marching orders and urged the Peacocks to do it quickly.

Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event (3 May, 15:07), he said: “I do worry about the pictures of Daniel Farke there, sat on his own as the team were celebrating.

“Even when they won that, he is to the side, it feels to me, just looking at those pictures, that he feels that he is a dead man walking.

“If that is going to happen, it needs to be done quickly, or if you are going to keep him, let it be known quickly.”

Leeds surely have to keep Farke

Farke deserves to be given another chance to crack the top tier as the squad at his disposal is much better than the one that he took up with the Canaries.

He should be backed well in the transfer market to improve the team and see how far he can take them after smashing the second tier this campaign.

The decision that Leeds makes on Farke could define how their return to the top-flight will play out, it could either prove to be the correct decision or the wrong one.

Deeney is right with his view that they need to make the decision quickly, the quicker it is made, the Whites can focus on their ambitions in the market as uncertainty over the manager may put potential targets off a move to Yorkshire.

The board would be setting itself up for criticism if they sack Farke and the Peacocks go down with a new man in charge, so they may aswell give him a chance.
