Leeds United team news as Rodrigo could now start v Wolves - BBC Sport

Leeds United forward Rodrigo could be in line to start his first game in two months against Wolves on Saturday afternoon [18 March], according to BBC Sport.

The Spanish international has been out since suffering an ankle injury against Accrington Stanley at the end of January in the FA Cup fourth-round tie, eight weeks ago.

However, he did make his return in the 2-2 draw with Brighton last weekend, playing 24 minutes and Leeds boss Javi Gracia said in his press conference, per LeedsLive that the 10-goal hitman may not play the full 90 minutes.

Huge boost

Whether Rodrigo is able to play 45 minutes or even just 20 minutes, his return to the squad is a huge boost for Gracia and his team considering their current plight in the league standing.

The Whites are in desperate need of goals which Rodrigo has provided them in abundance this season scoring 10 Premier League goals.

However, it isn’t just the Spaniard’s goals that the Whites have sorely missed but his energy, aggression and tenacity from the front which pretty much stifled their game throughout his absence.

Goals win games and that is a commodity Leeds have lacked this calendar year. Patrick Bamford is also yet to return to tip-top form despite his goal last weekend.

If the Whites can get both Rodrigo and Bamford firing on all cylinders then they certainly have every chance of securing their Premier League status for another season. Keeping the former Valencia man fit is paramount and Gracia will be desperate to finally work with him properly this time around.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
