Arsenal likely to sell Leeds target Eddie Nketiah in January

Arsenal are likely to sell Leeds United target Eddie Nketiah in the January transfer window, according to reports from The Athletic.

Nketiah has a contract at the club till the end of the season. It seems he is not going to play any major part in Mikel Arteta’s plans this season.

The Gunners see the January window as an opportunity to sell Nketiah and recoup a fee for him.

Nketiah can also leave in the summer on a free transfer. However, Arsenal will be due compensation (will be decided by tribunal) if he joins another Premier League club.

Should Leeds move for him?

Earlier this month, TMW reported that Leeds have made contact to re-sign Nketiah in January.

The 22-year-old joined Leeds on loan a couple of seasons ago, but it was cut short.

He was linked with a move away from the club in the summer transfer window, but Arsenal didn’t allow him to leave.

Nketiah’s situation hasn’t improved as he managed only 173 minutes of action in all competitions so far.

The Whites have struggled this season badly in the absence of Patrick Bamford through injury, and Marcelo Bielsa should look to sign another striker, despite the rise of Joe Gelhardt.

A cut-price deal in January for Nketiah could work in their favour. Bielsa would surely welcome him back with wide-open arms.

Tyler Roberts has been disappointing for Leeds and he could be sent out on loan to a Championship club to rediscover his form.

Nketiah has the age and experience to become a solid player for Leeds for years to come. He has been described as “incredible [Vanguard] ” by Mikel Arteta and the Whites must not miss out on this opportunity to sign him.
