Leeds United target Ben Brereton Diaz set for lucrative summer move

Leeds United target Ben Brereton Diaz is reportedly set to join an established Champions League club, Sevilla, this summer.

According to TEAMtalk, the 23-year-old Blackburn Rovers forward is closing in on a ‘lucrative’ move amid growing transfer speculation.

He’s bagged 21 goals this season and also found himself in the crosshairs of fellow Premier League side West Ham.

Move on?

He clearly would’ve been a terrific option for the Whites as he appeared set to take the next level.

While the Championship is not a great indicator, Brereton Diaz has also proven it at the international level with Chile.

Given Patrick Bamford’s injury woes, it made sense for the Whites to look for understudies that could eventually replace the England international.

However, they will now have to look elsewhere as he’s set to play in the Champions League and pocket a decent wage package while doing so.

His deal runs out in the summer but Blackburn have a one-year extension clause that they will be exercising.

Even so, he will not cost as much as a player who’s got several years left or has recently signed a new deal.

Sevilla will certainly benefit a great deal for the Chilean and the pace of the league could see him scoring goals aplenty.

Often, players from England move to Spain and thrive as they’re used to the fast-paced nature of the game.

Should his move to Sevilla fall through, Victor Orta must quickly snap him up.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
