Leeds United table bid to sign Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi as January transfer blitz continues

Leeds United have submitted a bid to sign Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi in the January window, according to a report from Foot Mercato.

The Morocco international dazzled for his country during the World Cup in Qatar and the Whites have wasted no time in making a move for him, having already signed Max Wober from RB Salzburg.

The Whites are on fire at the moment as they are also close to securing a deal for Hoffenheim forward Georginio Rutter.

The move comes as a bit of a surprise though. It is not the Victor Orta way to sign players who have done well in the World Cup without properly scouting them.

But this is an exceptional case. He is someone who has already caught the attention of Andrea Radrizzani while Orta himself admitted [Marca, as transcribed by Yorkshire Evening Post, 16 December] that he has kept tabs on him for the last two years.

So, it means the Whites have already done extensive scouting work for him, and they have moved in quickly to secure his signature.

Fabrizio Romano reported on 15 December that a host of Premier League clubs have been keeping tabs on the midfielder, and his agents are busy picking calls from potential suitors.

Leeds lost an important player in Mateusz Klich who is moving to DC United in the MLS this month.

Ounahi would be a terrific addition to the club. He can play on the right, and can dribble past players, but most importantly he has got a terrific footballing brain.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this in-form Eredivise player who’d cost over £15million.
