Leeds United Super Fans react as new Raphinha contract talks mooted

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Leeds United Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Leeds Insider Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Elland Road…

Leeds United winger Raphinha has enjoyed a sensational start to the Premier League season this year.

Scoring five in 10 appearances, the attacker has also shined at the beginning of his Brazil career on the international stage.

It has been no surprise to see clubs linked with a transfer, with Liverpool the latest to be strongly linked this week.

With his contract running down in West Yorkshire, Graham Smyth has mooted sensational talks over a new deal.

“As for his contract, I would be stunned had there not been talks in the background about extending his contract,” he said.

This would not only protect his immediate future at Elland Road but also his value moving further down the line.

No one is saying they want Raphinha sold, but should an offer come in close to £100million, it would be hard to say no – a new contract would guarantee that.

We asked our esteemed panel of MOT Super Fans over on Facebook whether Leeds should be going all out with a new deal.

The response was overwhelming and it was no surprise to see every single fan commenting that it was a no brainer to get Raphinha tied down for longer at the club.

Here’s what they said below…

Raphinha himself has made it no secret that he loves the club, the fans and everything about the city, but the Whites have to move first.

If a contract is on the table before a big-money move elsewhere, there should be no reason as to why he wouldn’t extend his stay.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are ready to make major January signings with unexpected deals to force action
