Leeds United Super Fans react as Mateusz Klich forced to delete Twitter account after Chelsea loss

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Leeds United Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Leeds Insider Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Elland Road…

Leeds United Super Fans have been left outraged after abuse was directed the way of Mateusz Klich this weekend.

The Polish international conceded the penalty which led to Chelsea’s winner in the 3-2 showdown at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (12th December).

This led to Klich being forced to delete his Twitter account to get away from the fans on his back all weekend in the aftermath.

This is never acceptable, no matter what happened.

Klich has been sensational since Marcelo Bielsa arrived at the club and he got his chance, and he was one of the main reasons behind our promotion from the Championship.

On top of that, he will be one of the first to admit that he hasn’t been at his best this season, so why would abuse from fans online help him?

It is time to get behind the lads, injuries have left our squad threadbare, so we don’t need anyone affecting the team off the pitch as well as on it.

We’re certain that Klich will have the entire away end singing his name at The Etihad tomorrow evening – there is no doubt about that.

We asked our esteemed panel of MOT Super Fans over on our Facebook page for their reaction, and the response was overwhelming.

The majority were behind Klich, with some labelling it a “disgrace” and following it up with a call for lifetime bans for those fans found guilty of abuse.

Here’s what they said below…

Klich is as tough as they come, and the best way to respond to those firing abuse online is to put in a brilliant performance against Manchester City should he be used.

Fingers crossed he is pivotal to another huge three points at The Etihad.
